Web Server Cache

The Web Server Cache feature stores frequently requested web pages for quick retrieval. By storing frequently requested web pages you conserve the server resources used for file serving and communication connections. The IBM 2212 Web Server Cache feature provides high-speed access to web pages while reducing host communications overhead.

Note:

You must use a high-performance system card if you want to use the Web Server Cache feature.

The IBM 2212 Web Server Cache:

• Stores the static, unprotected Web pages

• Provides the HTTP clients and servers with access to the cache

• Allows the user to define cache population and invalidation policies

• Uses the Network Dispatcher function to perform workload balancing among servers and provides backup cache capabilities

All IBM 2212 network interfaces that support TCP/IP connectivity, support connectivity between Web Server Cache, HTTP servers, and clients.
